Original Drawing
Materials: Pen/Ink/Markers
Size: 8.5" x 11" [unframed]
Date: 2007
This particular piece was inspired by the people who sit on the street corners, completely covered in their blankets as they attempt to stay warm. Most of the time, people ignore the beggars and those who are hungry, but occasionally, these homeless individuals find one stranger who may have an ounce of compassion. As the new year draws near, I reflect on these people I've so often passed by and attempted to ignore. However, their images obviously remain in my mind! This particular scene that I sketched was inspired by a street corner in NYC during November. (Of course, that's not to say, I don't see individuals like this on a daily basis.)
This is a part of what I intend to submit to a Juried Book Arts Exhibit sponsored by Boston Book Arts, entitled SHELTER.

Wow, this is both lovely and poignant. I'd love to see the whole product. I almost thought it was 3-D in the closeup.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! This piece is still a work-in-progress, but I will be certain to post the completed product when it is finished.
