I've been freelancing as a substitute teacher at the New Art Center on some weekends. I love it, and look forward to working with the children as they celebrate birthday parties and create art.
This Saturday, the project was mask-making, but everyone finished their masks earlier than expected. So we had to find a way to use the rest of the allotted time. On the fly, we decided to create a contest. To simplify things, the boys competed against the girl in a drawing contest. They had 10 minutes to create an mural as a team, and the only real rule was that they all had to compete. Although there were no prizes, they were all very excited to participate (and compete).

Their freedom of expression and energy inspired me, and I hope it inspires you, too.
